In this surrealistic representation, Frog gently breaks the surface, causing ripples to radiate. Until recently, there were no frogs on Haida Gwaii. According to legend, when Frog Chief first encountered Black Bear, the huge creature terrified him for its own amusement, nearly stepping on him as he hopped away. Frightened by this experience, all frogs fled the islands. Frog is a crest used by the Eagle moiety of the Haida.
